Window Repair
« on: February 26, 2009, 19:16:58 »

Well, Finally got around to swapping in the new bushings into the pass. side door on the LeBaron.  Took a ton of pictures so anyone who is curious knows how to do it right.  Pictures then Captions

Start with you're door of choice.

Remove door handle, screw behind it, (2 screws in the carpet area on 4 doors too), Door lock knob and clips around the outside.  Push in at the top of the panel and lift off at the same time.

Motor Location.  3 Mounting bolts on all cars, plus 1 brace bolt on 2 doors or pre-80 M bodies? (not sure what the condition was on this, only seen it on my car)

Motor Removed

Remove Screw from cover, remove cover

Remove window gear

Remove bits and pieces of old bushings/grease, clean out well.

Re-Lube both sides.  I used white grease that we use for brakes.

Here's the tricky part. Ya gotta Find 3 Nuts that sorta fit into the motor/gear assembly.......  NOT.

Insert the correct Bushings into 3 indents on gear.  Line up with indents on motor and put the two together.

Replace Cover, Installation is the opposite of Removal.  Good things to do while the door is apart include lube window track/guide/slot, lube door lock motor, lube door latch, Clean inside of door, paint any rust ETC ETC

I'm just going to lock it myself before It goes to crap like all the other window threads do.

Above is the correct way to repair a window motor who's old bushings have gone bad. PERIOD.

There is no debate, question or doubt, Any other repairs will result in damage to the window motor, gear, glass, tracks, people, pets ETC ETC.

Reggie, feel free to use any pictures/text in the library, it's really filling in now!
