Found a new axle for the diplomat coupe
« on: March 16, 2010, 08:47:10 »

Found a 3.2 ratio 8.25 axle under a wagon in one of the local yards.   The dippy will really scoot with those gears, even with a 1bbl slant 6....
Also got a rear sway bar from an 81 Imperial.  Already have the poly isomounts, dakota springs, caliper adapters and B body rotors.
I will be gathering all the extra parts needed, and install them in the fall.

Sounds like you find all the good parts.

Yep, AZ is much better for cars/parts than Ontario. That rearend ratio sure will help. Have you considered going 2bbl. I've had enough /6's and the 2bbl wakes a /6 too. 10Hp by the book numbers. In your case, you might have a 90Hp /6, so with a older 2bbl /6 set up you can go to 110Hp. My 80 Cali Dip has the 90hp smogged motor.

You've had some awesome finds out in those yards.  I'm jealous.

Yard by me mostly has 2.2/2.5 turbos and V6 trucks.  (okay, there's a lot of 318-2 coversion vans too)

When are all you snowbound dippy fans gonna give up on living in the frozen north and move south?
In my favorite yard, there is a 66 and a 74 A body, a Mirada, 2 J body Imperials, a C body, and half a dozen first generation dakotas.  Plenty of 5th avenues as well, but I rarely find anything on them that I want.

The yard in Chandler has a lot of everything except old Mopar cars, but still lots of dakotas.  It is the cleanest yard in town, only a few years old, and well graveled before the first car went in there.

At our summer place, Logan,UT, the yard operators are too quick to crush.  Might be how fast they turn to rust or something.... :(

Are you kidding? I'm in the frozen Southeast.  And I hope you remember I'm very much after one of those Imperial EFI setups.

There's better yards in NC but they are hours from me.
