hahaha yes my friend it is infact what the sign said! 17 mpg is good enough for me, son. Still having trouble with the header panel bolts, but I found the "hanger" bolts and I'm gonna try it with marine grade epoxy this time around. I'm also curious about how to get the bumper shocks to come out about an inch?

only way to bring the bumper shocks out is to park infront of a strong tree about 5 feet behind it, and hook come alongs to the tree and to the bumper shock (not the bumper it will bend) and pull it a little and leave it sit for an hour the pull a little more and let it sit, repeat this until the bumper is where you want it

its important to leave it hooked to the come alongs after its where you need it as the bumper shock will want to retract if not

So considering a rearend swap in the near future, before any engine mods. I think that with a better gear ratio I may not need as much motor. There is a late 50's 8 3/4 axle on CL for like 100 bucks is it worth a shot?

Well for 100 bucks I would have a lot of green left over to find newer parts for it. I know there is a Dakota axle that comes with a 3:23 and that would be the perfect ratio, I'm just not sure if I can fab a Dak axle up?

That's me Dorothy, and my Girlfriend Dakota on Prom Night... Got us there safely, managed to stall out in the parking lot of the Country Club...  So needless to say she's getting a new carb (2 bbl) and the catless Y. Still not sure which carb to get, some model #'s would help as I'm browsing ebay trying to find the best deal.

Going back in the thread to discussions of painting cars with rollers; that is how the factory used to do it even into the 50's.  So you can paint a car with a roller, if you use good material for the paint.

$650 bought my dear old girl. 83k when I purchased her, drove it home, haven't replaced anything except the fuel pump, front shocks, balljoints, and the occasional passenger rear tire. 91k as of right now, and I'm in the market for another vehicle. I'd like to get something decent on gas so that I can have a nice purty dippy before it hits 100k
