This schedule is from the Haynes guide to Rear Wheel Drive Mopars 1971-1989. This maintenance schedule applies to all Chrysler Corporation cars with straight six and V8 engines. Every 250 miles / weekly: Every 3000 miles / 3 months: All items listed above Check automatic transmission fluid level Check power steering fluid level Inspect engine oil and filter Check and service battery Inspect Cooling system Inspect (replace if necessary) all under hood hoses Inspect (replace if necessary) windshield wiper blades Inspect suspension and steering components Inspect exhaust system Check clutch pedal free play Check manual transmission lubricant level Check differential lubricant level Every 7500 miles / 6 months: All items listed above Rotate tires Check brakes * Inspect fuel system Check carburetor mounting bolt/nut torque Check throttle linkage Check engine drive belts Check seat belts Check neutral start switch Every 15000 miles / 12 months: All items listed above Lubricate chassis components * Inspect (replace if necessary) ignition points Inspect (adjust if necessary) valve clearances Every 30000 miles / 24 months: All items listed above Replace air filter Change automatic transmission fluid and filter Adjust automatic transmission bands ** Change manual transmission lubricant Change differential lubricant Check and repack front wheel bearings * Drain, flush, refill cooling system Check Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) system Check evaporative emissions control system Check Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system Check thermostatically-controlled air cleaner Check crankcase inlet filter Replace fuel filter Check (clean if necessary) exhaust manifold heat control valve Clean carburetor choke shaft Replace spark plugs Inspect (replace if necessary) spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor. Check (adjust if necessary) idle speed Check (adjust if necessary) ignition timing 52500 miles / 36 months: Replace oxygen sensor - (Electronic Fuel Control system equipped models) NOTES: * This item is affected by "severe" operating conditions, as described below. If the vehicle is operated under sever conditions, perform all maintenance indicated with the ( * ) at 3000 mile / 3 month intervals. Severe conditions exist if you operate the vehicle . . . in dusty areas towing a trailer idling for extended periods and/or driving at low speeds when outside temperatures remain below freezing and most trips are less than four miles long. **
If operated under one or more of the following conditions, change the automatic
transmission fluid and adjust the bands every 15,000 miles . . .
