My 1983 Diplomat with a 318 engine. I modified the
sound system, and that's about all for right now. The transmission
clunks, I would be lost without the clunk, I will have this car forever.
I hit a deer with it, and not even a dent! From

I currently own a '86 police package Dippy, I purchased it late last summer and hadn't done much to it by the time the snow started flying. Luckily, since this car wasn't my main source of transportation I didn't have to drive it during the grueling Wisconsin winter.... Except for when I took it out ice racing. What the hell??? Yep, that's right, Some crazy fool's been out ice racing his Dippy.
I caught wind of these races out on the ice, they consist of about 2 miles of hard corners, longs straights and everything in between. All cars race the clock one at a time so there's no chance of disaster. I had to run it. My first ice race was pretty funny, I drove out there on the Eagle GT's that were on the car when I bought it. I quickly discovered that all of the cars in my class were running crazy tires I hadn't heard of that were made in strange countries. I was a total chump at my first race, I was running two BMW's and a hopped up Cougar. Somehow I managed to beat the Ford and ended up in third but was a long way behind the Beemers. The car felt even on the ice and I knew tires would help a lot so I did the research and purchased a new set of Hakkapeliitta Q's (not everyday you ear that word, huh?). The tires were amazing, they had a wonderful reputation and after bolting them on I knew why. My second race placed me in second place. I came in at less than half a second behind first place.I was out for> blood and determined to grab a first place for my next race. My third race was wonderful and I came home with a plaque for first place. My next and last ice event for the year also scored me with a first place, over a nice Volvo. I'm happy with the results and looking forward to the summer so I can get the beast out on the pavement. From

I thought I was the only one on this planet who was into Diplomats. I race an 85 police edition at a local track here in Madera, Ca.
Here's some pics of it, may not look like a Dip cause I had to strip all the fiberglass off it. From
