Plymouth Volare

predvol01.jpg (33698 bytes) I ran across this image of a 1978 Plymouth Volare dressed up as a racing car at a site listing cars for sale, though I didn't know if anything under the hood is changed as well.  Then, one day I got an email which lent a lot of information:

"Hello I have some facts about that picture with the 78 Volaré that looks like a race car. it was an special option in 1978 for the Volare and Aspen, it included ground effects, hood pins, heavy duty suspension, rear anti sway bars, and decals to make it look like Richard Petty's race car. The hood decals were only with the 360 engine the 318 didn't have them. There was an article about these cars in the November 1977 motor trend."

Thanks so much for the update!

predvol02.jpg (62630 bytes) An unknown year Plymouth Volare.  When you examine this car, do the doors look familiar?  How about the placement of the gas filler cap?

predvol03.jpg (42616 bytes) This unknown year custom Plymouth Volare Sedan image (and the one below) appears to be from a brochure.  The similarity to the Diplomats and other "M" Bodies is readily apparent when looking at the side of this car.  The doors are interchangeable with the Diplomat.

predvol04.jpg (20999 bytes) This is an unknown year model of the Roadrunner version of the Plymouth Volare.  The Coupe version of the Volare does not resemble the Diplomat so closely.  However when you compare it with the somewhat rare Diplomat Coupe, you can draw similarities out of the appearance of those cousins.

predvol05.jpg (53903 bytes) The comparison drawn between this Volare and Diplomat Coupes is better seen in this image.

It costs money to keep this site operational and up to date, but I have never charged admission.  If you find this site helpful or useful, please consider donating towards the upkeep and future of Farley's Page.  Thank you.
