BODY CODE PLATE (back to CONTENTS) (author's note - this section is reprinted as it appeared. It almost certainly was prepared in error, and it is not clear in which way this information is actually supposed to be presented.) Note that there are seven (7) lines of information on the plate. Each line provides for 23 code positions (letters, numbers, blank spaces). Information reads from left to right, starting with line 1 at the bottom of the plate. Lines 1 thru 3 of the body code plate will consist of the constant date shown on the attached proposal. Lines 4 thru 7 of the body code plate

The last nine positions of line #7 will contain a two digit species, when applicable, and a six digit gateline sequence number. The last code shown on either plate will be followed by "END". When two plates are required, the last code space on the first plate will show "CTD" (for continued). VEHICLE SAFETY CERTIFICATION LABELS (back to CONTENTS) A vehicle safety certification label (Fig. 6) is attached to the rear facing of the driver's door on all Chrysler-built passenger vehicles (Fig. 7). This label reflects the month and year of manufacture in the upper right hand corner; gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR); gross axle weight rating (GAWR), front and rear; and vehicle identification number (VIN). As a manufacturing control, a month-day-hour (MDH) number is included in the lower left corner of the label. When applied, this label verifies conformity with all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards in effect on the date of manufacture. The Canadian National Safety Mark (see center exhibit in Fig. 6) is applied next to the vehicle safety certification label on all vehicles sold in Canada, regardless of manufacturing plant location. A number designation, appearing in the center of the Safety Mark, is assigned by the Canadian Ministry of Transport authorizing Chrysler to apply these Safety Marks to their vehicles. All communications or inquiries regarding vehicles should include the month-day-hour (MDH) number and the vehicle identification number (VIN).
