Title: New ish '88 AHB on Ebay
Post by: lsm360 on January 25, 2020, 12:22:52
Price is getting up there. Too high for me for a 2 bbl car with no engine oil cooler, silicone hoses, thermoguard, and oil pressure gauge. Would be nice to have an almost new one though. States "727" transmission but I kind of doubt it.

Looks nice.
Not to be negative, because I know someones going to say I am, but why does it seem like this FBI story comes up an awful lot when someone is selling a nice looking car?
Im interested to see what it looked like coming out of that 20 year storage.

An undercover car that looked like a police car? Something wring there. At least it should have had full wheel covers. Interior is the same as my (documented) NCIS car was - brown vinyl with the floor mat. But the NCIS car did have the oil gauge and certified speedometer. Plus full wheel covers and body side molding. There was a GSA tag inside the trunk on mine.

So, either shill bidder with no real buyer or some knuckelhead who thinks they can make $1500 on a flip (before shipping if applicable).

My guess is the former.

I am simply amazed by the ignorance of supposed car people about cars like this. Some things I've seen:
"This is a taxi package car, not a police car, because it has the 2 bbl engine."
"It can't be an AHB car because it doesn't have an oil pressure gauge."
"318-2 bbl police cars had the 7.25" axle, just like the civilian cars."
Etc.

I know, it kills me.  :D  "It cant be a police car because it has carpet, not rubber mat",  "Police cars didn't have power windows!"  Also, if I had a dollar for every time someone told me they came with a 440 or a 360 I could retire.

The engine options is the one that gets me. 360's. How many people that say they had one (Police) from late 80's with factory 360.

"Yeah, but such and such department had an in with a Chrysler rep and they got some specially built 360 cars."
Yes, because Chrysler would risk being shut down by EPA fines just because some department asked for this...
Florida Highway Patrol is the most frequent rumor.

One day I'd like to find out exactly what "washing a title" is......and why a law enforcement agency would have to do that....and how one finds out the car had a "washed" title......

Yeas, I know various agencies use untraceable plates on cars, but washing the title?
Were they afraid someone was going to write down the VIN and try to trace it while it was "undercover"?
And if it was undercover, why choose this type of car?
