The only reason I'm doing the 20 questions is for everyone who may run into this....so next question....

Couldn't you walk into a Napa WITH the original washer?

Or failing actually having the original....wouldn't a year specific cross reference of that engine at said Napa give you the answer?

It's been my experience that the originals may not always have a washer - or it's somehow built in and not removable like the aftermarket units.

I think the washer was only for aftermarket ones so they could make fewer valves for the same number of applications.

I called Beattie Chrysler in lovely Brantford, Ontario
A VERY old dealership.....
The guy I deal with there looked into the bowels of their system and they list 4105012 as the official number.
They have no different number for 1 or 2 bbl.

The guy at the dealership confirms that.
He said the aftermarket one's come with washers to set the needle height.

Hey guys,
THANK YOU for all the leg work and investigation.  I called summit racing during my lunch hour and they also, after lots of page turning and discussion amongst themselves, determined that working on Malaise Era cars at the height of trying to add on and test emissions related items, sucks...  I mean they also determined that the $25.00 model EGR Valve will work for my application.  Since it is a California car, there is still a little question mark out there, but we are 99% sure it is the correct replacement part.

I will keep you guys posted on my progress.  inmywj

Physically either one should fit, the only difference between 1 and 2 bbl and cali ones should just be to get different flow thru them or opening and closing at slightly different vacuum, and with an old car the numbers are probably skewed anyway with engine wear, clogged passages and whatever else so any one of the valves you can get should be better then nothing at all.
