Torqueflite Transmission Fluid Flow

On all Torqueflites, the front fluid port is called the pressure port.  The rear fluid port is called the return port. During engine operation, transmission fluid is pumped from the front port through a hollow steel cooling line (pressure line) to a port in a separate oil to water cooling tank in the bottom of the radiator.  Cooled transmission fluid leaves the radiator tank and then travels through a second steel cooling line (return line) to the rear port.  The diagram below shows the direction of the fluid flow. Chrysler Corporation recommends that any auxilliary coolers be added in the system after the fluid leaves the radiator cooling tank.
