We will miss you Ice.
I don't know who needs throttle more the scumbag brother who sold all of the cars for less than $2500 each, or the scumbag flipper trying to sell the green machine for $12,000.  There is a special place for both of these individuals after they die.

You will be missed.

You know Ice and Captain Caravelle used to be anchors here and keep things going. The loss of Ice is so sad, and Capn is missed too. Ice is of course especially sad, and it really hits hard when you see his beloved cars being sold.

But why the anger toward these guys?  I don't understand what they are doing wrong.

Ice's cars weren't mint rust free cars. What they were asking for them is probably in line with what they were worth. The Aspen was under priced but he probably just saw an unfinished car and not what was done to it.
The LeBaron he bought cheap at an estate sale and I seem to remember it even has frame patches. $12K is a stretch for it.

The internet kinda sucks sometimes. You know someone for years and can only infer what happened to them by the fact that their cars are all up for sale now.

Place won't be the same without him.

Yes really sucks for sure. His glaring absence from here started it. Then, to see his cars up for sale all but confirmed the sad reality.

yeah. Really too bad. And he was just retired too or just about ready to. I tried contacting him a couple times but never got thru. I don't know if he was already gone by then or not able or wanting to talk to anyone.

I know a couple people from from the forum personally but what Ark said is one of the strange things about the internet, like there's never any closure in a way.

Without giving away too many personal details, it seemed his main interested were his birds, his cars, and this forum.
He wanted to make plans to avoid estranged family members from swooping in and selling everything. I suspect he got too ill too fast to put any other plans in place.

Even in a family where the relationships are good, make sure your loved ones know who to contact to help sell and put values on things if no one else in the immediate family is a car guy/girl.

You're right about that. He sent this message to a bunch of us and I think he also posted the idea at the forum before. Thanks to 80 Lebaron Coupe for bringing it up again:

"So, I'm looking to form the Dippy Board of Directors.

Not to be morbid, but if I go, a lot of nice M/F parts and cars will all be trashed .

I want to give all my cars, parts, car memorabilia and tools to Dippy.org, care of all the members of the board of directors.

Need to know if you are interested.

Hire someone better to run the board and support video or what ever."

Yes, when I got that message I hoped he was just thinking worst case scenario.

He sent me a box of goodies and I covered shipping. Not a huge box, but a lot of nice NOS parts that I'll use one day. His heart was in the right place, and it's so sad he didn't get to enjoy his retirement  :(

He was very sad when he lost that bird, the name I don't recall. As Mark said, his cars, his birds, and I believe wrestling were his passions.

That's right, I had forgotten about his bird passing away.  That did make him very sad.

I remember Ice telling us how much he liked the lead singer of the cars before he started the cars.
Now every time I hear the cars on the radio I think of ICE.
It will never be the same here without him.

It really won't be. I did not know he liked the lead singer. Rick Ocasek, Cars lead singer.
