Notes:- Forum member S-type has had considerable experience pulling Chrysler 331 Hemi engines, and recalls that they seemed to weigh substantially less than the 745lb figure from one the sources below. His 700lb weight estimate agrees with the other source below, so it was used here.
- Weight for 277-301-318 Poly "A" V8 engine is an estimate. It was similar in design & casting technique to the Dodge Poly engines from which it was derived
- Poly engines were developed in the mid 1950s. Most were phased out of passenger cars by the late 1950s with the exception of the 318 Poly "A" engine which was phased out after 1966.
- The term "Mopar" is used to describe Chrysler "corporate" engines that were used in various makes and vehicle platforms.
- No weights are available for the newer Magnum 5.2 (318) and 5.9 (360) engines. However, they should weigh less than their LA counterparts due to different heads and lighter rotating assemblies.
