rear glass and trim?
« on: January 26, 2015, 15:21:33 »

We're there different size back windows depending on weather it had a vinyl top or not? My top is shot and I would like to remove it.

Yes, for 1979 it makes a difference.  There are four variations on the 4 door LeBaron roof:
1) with vinyl roof with heated glass
2) with vinyl roof without heated glass
3) without vinyl roof with heated glass
4) without vinyl roof without headed glass.

Would 80-89 M trim parts work?

Might be 2 different animals.

From the back door back is completely different for 77-79 then 80-89. Volare parts would probably fit those older years tho. For 4 door cars anyway.

M body and F body are 2 different animals when it comes to roof parts

Thanks for clarifying that. The backs of the 70s ones both look very similar but I've never seen pictures of both side-by side to compare how different they are.

so, is it as easy as finding a non vinyl, non heated rear glass and trim for the conversion? i would really like to get the top off, clean, prime and paint the roof.

There is probably some kind of filler or plug under the vinyl top you'd have to remove to install a non-vinyl top window.

I'm thinking it would still be easier than dealing with a Fifth ave roof...

F/A roofs are easy, once the filler cap is off a dippy back window fits perfectly

The window is different.  For a 1979 he needs a pre-1980 rear window which appears to be the same as Aspen/Volare 4 door.

i understand. shipping glass is a bad thing. lol. i am in the trucking business and i have (not) delivered lots of boxes full of broken glass. they almost always get refused when the customer sees glass leaking out of the crushed box.
