Turn Signal lenses
« on: August 28, 2016, 10:21:45 »

Quick question. I just picked up a pair of lenses for the turn signals on my F/A. Mine are yellow and I couldn't pass up the deal I got for these newer clear ones.
Anyone have a trick or advice to keep these new ones clear so they don't turn yellow again? I don't want to install them just to have them turn yellow again.

The front ones? Some of them turn yellow and you can't stop it. Others stay clear forever with no care. If you bought them used don't worry about it, they would have yellowed by now if they were going to.

Two things. Avoid leaving the car parked in the Sun whenever possible, and if you get moisture inside like happens with alot of these older cars, dry it out. The bulb sockets will rust and stain lenses yellow-ish.

Yeah my high beams always have water in them, even after i changed them. I'll give that a go. I'll find someway to keep the car covered from the sun. I don't have garage space, and it's too nice looking to be hidden under a car cover.

The heat from the bulbs is what turns the lenses yellow.  Very common problem on lots of cars.  Sometimes, the lens polishes take the yellow out.
