'85 Dippy fuel filter location
« on: September 01, 2016, 07:07:55 »

Fuel filter needs to be degunked. I've looked all over the engine compartment and can't find it. The car was not driven for 4 or 5 months. Starts fine on cold start after a short run wont start. Once she gets going it wants to fly.

Its in the passenger side near the alternator. If it is a 4bbl car with factory carburetor there might also be one where the line enters the carb.

Thank you, Mike. It appears to be a labor of love. Does it make more sense to just replace it?

Thank you, Mike. Just watched a Utube. Recommended to start the car then pull the relay for the fuel pump which will depressurize the line. Sound true?

Thats for an electric pump,

It's cheap and easy to replace so it doesn't hurt doing it, especially if you don't know when it was done last.
And like 80 Lebaron said the youtube instructions are for electric fuel pump, there's no fuse for these cars.

You may want to go ahead and put new rubber fuel line hose on too while your there.
The factory ones are probably hard and dry rotted.
5/16" for the hoses going to and from the filter.
1/4" for the return line coming off the side of the filter.
