Moulding Tool for Front Windshield Trim
« on: July 24, 2019, 22:28:19 »

I was looking at some moulding removal tools on Amazon.  Can anyone suggest a good choice for a moulding removal tool for the front windshield trim on these M body cars?  Any good methods to use these tools on our cars as well?

I got a set at Harbor Freight for cheap. You need the one that looks like a an arrow at the end. My clips were sort of rusted and therefore bonded to the trim a bit so really had to be pried off. You might want to soak the trim underside the best you can the night before with some WD40.

IIRC, you go under, then push up and pry outward.

This is the best one I've ever used. The claw hook on the right is what does the windshield clips. You slide it under the trim and slide it along until it hits a clip and you rotate the handle in the opposite direction. It's thinner then the regular trim tool so it's easier to get in there and the "hook" is longer so it grabs better.

I got the amazon one from last post at princess auto, don't know if they still have it or not, it's not on their website.

The multi tool you mentioned Mike is one of the two I was looking at on Amazon.   Good price as well.  I will pick it up.  Tricky job working around the windows.  Thxs for all the info provided from everyone.
