Go faster goodies
« on: August 20, 2017, 18:00:30 »

Finally got myself some FMJ headers last week at Mopar Nationals..for free nonetheless. Had to fix a primary, but sure beats $150+

Then my dad came over and we loaded up the 318 Magnum in his truck and he drove up to Baltimore then Buffalo and brought home a 360 Magnum and 8.25 SG from 81SportCoupe..as well as dad buying an engine hoist off of him while he was there.

Now that it's here, I'm gonna focus on getting the axle ready while the car is still at work. I'll rebuild it and stick my 3.54s in It, gather up new shackles, springs, bushings, etc and refinish all of it so it's done.

The engine I'll rebuild, stick a nice cam in it, and most likely stick with a carb setup after all (even though I really like the Fi-Tech).

I've got 16 years to finish this car..might as well do it right.

Easy 300HP right there, or even 380HP with a cam change.  The 380HP 360 crate motor was a factory short block and heads, different cam, RPM intake and headers.

That's the goal..rebuild the bottom end and heads, put shim gaskets and a cam in. I'll probably pull the M1 off the 318 and slap a carb on it. I've got headers (will be adding cutouts most likely)

Are there Edelbrock heads that will work well on stock roller cam motors?

The head castings will work fine as long as you use the correct one depending on if the motor is an LA or Magnum.  Other than that it's just a matter of making sure the springs have the right spring pressure.

Do you have valve springs for that thing?  The factory springs aren't going to work with an aftermarket cam.  I've got a set of R/T spring brand new in the box, along with never installed Magnum head bolts and 2.2L valve retainers (The R/T springs are bigger in diameter than the factory ones).  Ten years ago I was going to put a set of Magnum heads on my old 360 and just decided on a set of Edelbrocks instead.  Kept all the parts I amassed for the swap.  Especially don't need them now that I'm running a big block.  Interested?

I was under the understanding that factory components could handle up to .500 lift.

I may be interested anyway, however it's gonna be a while before I can do anything. I've gotta get my shed built to get my car back home, as well as get my budget fixed once I switch jobs and our kiddo is born.. gonna be a crazy couple of months.

They may not go into coil bind but you have to match spring rate to the cam profile for valve train control or you will have bad valve float
