quick question about Mopar Ignition Box 5 versus 4 pins
« on: October 05, 2017, 21:50:30 »

can someone confirm me that the 5 and 4 pins are the same units ?
from what I understand they would be the same but on the 5 pins one is not-connected and on the 4 pins that not-connected is just deleted

I can neither confirm, nor deny the functionality of the pins, but I can say I had an F Body years ago that would only run right with a 5 pin box, even though the parts store folks said the 4 pin should be fine.

The 5 pin box is designed for use with the dual ballast resistor and the 4 pin box with the single ballast resistor.

This is the correct answer. There are wiring diagrams for both.

What DobaMark said.
I think the way it goes is that you can use a 4 pin in place of a 5 pin, but not the opposite. Or is it the other way around. I can't remember and never done it.
