Title: 2014 Harper Cruise
Post by: MarkM on August 28, 2014, 18:38:12
I had a hell of a lot of fun last night.      It was the annual Harper Charity Cruise in Saint Clair Shores that I make it to every year, but this year we had an M presence.

The plan was to meet up with Todd (inmywj), but while I was waiting another guy saw my 5A parked on the road and pulled in to look at it.  He has got an '88 360 Diplomat.  We bs'd for a while and Todd came out with his '88.

From left to right: Bob, Me, and Todd.

Here is Todd's 88 up close; this is a factory car with 50,000 miles on it and it's so clean you can eat off of it.  I'm not kidding, I have never seen an M this clean.

Here is Bob's car; it's an also an 88, but has been hopped up a bit: 360, 727, and an 8.75".

After sitting parked for a couple hours we cruised in a line and represented M's.  I'm going to be hard pressed to have more fun at a cruise for quite some time.

Your Dads Coupe would have been a nice addition to the cruise.

Cool! That's neat seeing the 3 almost identical front ends lined up like that.

I know I'm a little late here but that's way cool seeing three of them next to each other like that, not somthing you see everyday that's for sure!

Hey Mark!  Just saw your post here.  Thank you for the kind words and it was a pleasure to finally meet you.  Your car certainly got all the attention when we left the parking lot and did the cruise.  People would look around, realize it was your car making the noise, then snap a look at me and say "look another one, no wait that one is a New Yorker or wait, it's a Diplomat".  I also heard "What's a Diplomat"?...  That was fun having three of us in a row like that.  We got some waves and smiles.  All of the upgrades on your car, are remarkable.  I am seriously going to think about stiffening up my underside like yours.

Also, again, thank you for the gift.  I truly appreciate it.  I have had such a busy and crazy summer, there was no way I was going to make it to the wrecking yard anytime soon.

I hope to meet up again, before the snow flies.  Talk to you soon, T
