I highly doubt its the same car.
Take some pics of it & share.
A mile isnt too far out of your way.

Yea, cause 4 speed lebarons with T-Tops are just falling out of trees...     I guess someone went through a lot of trouble to put that expired 1991 Rutgers parking sticker on this one too?  And the goofy horn button..?

It IS the same car, it IS in worse shape in real life.

I didn't crawl under it but I don't think it's too bad.  The main problem is that on top of the rust, it has had cheap body work done to it.  Looks like bondo and a cheap paint job.  Overspray on everything and it's darker than the factory color.  It'll be for sale eventually but I don't think it'll be cheap.

IIRC the 4 speed was standard for early M bodies.

I know the manuals say it was standard but how many have you seen and there are no production records.

Just because it's standard doesn't mean it's common.

There's no telling- partially because something else is after all these years a lot of the ones that are saved and in the market are fairly optioned cars.

But the combo of the 4 speed and T tops is likely very rare.

You are correct.
Chrysler fiddled with the power train a lot.
1977 was V8 auto standard with a credit for the slant 6.
Then in 1978 the 4 speed standard was standard, with the 6 or the 8 and the 6 was the standard engine.
1979 the 4 speed was slant 6 only.
1980 the manual transmission went away.

The V8 4 speed was only available with the 318. I don't know of them offering the 3 speed with the 360, but the 4 speed OD was not offered with the 360.

By the time of the M and F, the 360 was automatic only.  I think you've got to go back to the A and E (and probably earlier B) to get a manual transmision behind a 360.  I'm sure the tightening emissions laws of the time were what killed the 360 manual option.

'76 A bodies could get 360 4 speeds. The 4 speed was available with a manual in the trucks. It wasn't that the 360 was automatic only, it's that they dropped the 833 1:1 and only used the OD 833 which they wouldn't put behind a 360 or big block. (but GM would put the 833 OD behind 454s in front of 4x4 transfer cases)

It honestly may have been consumer demand that started the drop of the 1:1 final drive 833 and the dropping of manuals from those cars.
