Don't Moan About M Parts After This
« on: September 12, 2016, 15:41:30 »

So it seems that a guy has a 2009 Furd $1.50 with a farked heater.
Furd no longer services the part, until he went national, then Furd got a part built.
Now I wish I had the Furd part number, because I sure can find stuff.
Make some money.

Calgary man finds toughest part of owning 2009 Ford F-150 truck is finding replacement part

Canadian automakers have no obligation to provide parts beyond warranty period

The heating system on his 2009 truck suddenly failed, blowing only extremely hot air on the passenger side — so hot, no one could sit in the passenger seat.
But the biggest problem? It can't be fixed.
"It's crazy," says Rubner. "My truck is only seven years old."

I don't have much problem with 40 yr old Mopar parts-so far.
Nothing that would make it un-drivable.

Makes me rethink about any upgrade to a 21st century vehicle.
Or only look at Chargers and Crown Vics for the parts availability.

Sounds like something Ford would do, but then I had a Isuzu built GM that I had to go to Isuzu to get parts 10 years after it was build and still couldn't locate any good synchronizers for the transmission from any source (GM or Isuzu).

GM's really big about that. If the aftermarket doesn't pick it up which often GM keeps them from for a decent few years then there's nothing if not the overpriced dealer.

Sounds like a friend's brand new furd pickup.  Trans died about 3 weeks after purchase.  Got towed to the dealer.  He was assured warranty would take care of it and truck would be ready that afternoon.  Got a call later and was told it would take about 2-3 weeks.  They were waiting on a part.  He couldn't believe they wouldn't have a part.  He was told the part had to come from Mexico.  The trannies were all built in Mexico.

Sounds familiar. A buddy had a F-150 with a similar issue. Could have had a rebuilt transmission in the truck in a couple of days, but because it was a warranty issue, the dealer had to replace the internal part and not the whole transmission. 2 weeks to get it fixed. Flipside is that he was given a loaner.
