"Tireing" kind of day
« on: October 27, 2009, 07:19:54 »

Had access to a shop w/ a tire machine and a sandblaster yesterday.
Took 3 wheels over, dismounted, sandblasted the rims, primed/painted, then remounted the tires, new valve stems.
It was a real nice day, so later in the, I took the road wheels off the Medallion and put those 3 on.
Have more rims to do when I can get the shop again.

So it took me 35/40 minutes to swap out 3 tires w/ my lil 1.5 ton floor jack and bad CRAPCAR crews could do it in 20 sec or less :whist: :p

Have a little more shop time, so I took over one my snows for a dismount/ sandblasting.
I was shocked when I pulled the tire and it was a 15x5.5 instead of a 7.
Even more SHOCKED when I called a wrecker about one and he said $50

I searched my garage high and low and found only one and it was atleast straight, but super ugly. :x
Even the sandblaster can't hide that ugly.
Painting it now, see how it looks.
Just have 1st coat of prime so far.

I think my personal best is 4 tires mounted and balanced in about ten minutes but that was on a car on a hoist.

A hoist and impact gun is a picnic.
A 1.5 ton floor jack, hand tools and a driveway is another. :whist:

Gotta do another 2 wheel swap when I get this one painted and dried a bit.

Cheaping out instead of having a tire shop do the labour. :whist:

Another 6 hrs of M puttering
Got that rim painted, mounted, and on the car.
4 gloss black 15x7 reg rims and good tires.
That part is ready for the forseen snow :pound:

While i was at it I painted the front licence plate bracket.
Looks much better than the old rusty one.

A certain timekiller is waiting for paint to dry :p

Got the Medallion plated and insured today.
Since I only can drive one car at a time, having more than
2 cars insured at the same time is a waste of $. :whist:

Took out the nice 79 dashbezel to keep it nice and replaced it with
a custom F/A one.
Taped up the inside chrome on the 2 large pods, a strip above
the gear selector and both vents and hit it with silver/grey texured paint.
Added a old steering wheel black penestar, a woodgrain dummy switch, and a 'ejection seat' switch.
Came out pretty good.
I'll have to get pics posted.

Yeah this week I will also try for some free time  in the shop. got a buttload of winterizing chores to do on the dippy and the WifeyCruiser.
Wife told me the exhaust was rattling in the wind so I took a look while I did the oil change. not the exhaust, the >:( empty >:( spare tire carrier was the culprit, yea I get to go scrounge the junkyard for a wheel with good meat on it.

also got to throw some snow tires on rims for the dippy and fill a couple of old tubes with sand and toss em in the trunk for some rear weight.

Yeah but I already got the tubes and the county shop is just down the road there's a big mountain of sand there, cost to me $0.00.  8)
Tried to go without last year but with the dakota leafs in the back she sits a little higher and it kinda lightened it up back there a little too much.

Did a oil change/breather/pcv/air filter on the Medallion.
Started out cheap, oil was 1/2 price, I had the rest of the stuff including new Mopar oil filter.
Then found out my battery was a turd

I had the door open for @ half and hr and I had a flat battery. :pound:
Hadda change that out.
Double checked the alternator and it's fine.
