318 Power!
« on: March 16, 2008, 18:56:46 »

Yesterday I get a call at my job; my brother's '96 Lexus ES-300 breaks down going up a hill and they're not sure whats wrong, a long story short I end up down there in Alicia pushing this Lexus up the hill. man those 318s got torque! I throw the tranny in 1 and very slowly start pushing Alicia acted like pushing a 3,370 pound car was nothing! Another victory for the very underated 318 engine 8) :thumb:

That was a Kodak moment.  Should have taken some pics to remind your brother once in a while.   :D - RR

318 5.2L V8 engine has the closest torque to a diesel you'll get. the low-end is perfect for pushing/towing.

Nope.  They are pretty good, but a 360 is closer to a diesel as far as torque is concerned. Even the much blah-blahed 400 HP 318 builds didn't even approach the torque of a stock 360.  Diesels produce more torque at lower RPMs than the 360 though.  - RR
