Yeah, getting another vehicle would probably just suck away all the money you need for the parts for this one. Gather the parts first, and if that guy at church can help, just do it over a weekend like the others have suggested. Maybe that magnum headed cop motor will be good 'n' fast with decent mileage for you so you won't need another swap, you never know.

I remember that other magnum heads drilling jig that existed, it was mailed around on the honor system so people could get their heads drilled at minimum cost, worked out great but eventually it wore out.

I like $500 cars.  I've bought a lot of them, drove them a couple years and often sell them for $750 when I'm down with them.  Two of the $500 cars were Neons that needed almost nothing to drive.

It'll be the first part of spring hopefully. No sense putting them on before winter..lol. cause I'm gonna be ditching the AC and cleaning the engine bay up a bit..which I'd rather do as it gets warmer..not colder since I don't have a garage..lol

Ok, question. Since im using the magnum heads, and subsequent lifters and whatnot, and my cop motor is supposed to be a roller block..do i need to switch to a roller cam? If so, whats a good streetable choice, and how much more do i need to get if i do get the cam

Thats what i was thinking. But isnt all thats different the lifters? In which case i'll be getting Mag lifters anyway, so why not?

the roller cams are different. you could go roller cam, which would involve getting mag roller lifters+ a roller cam. and the spider to hold down the lifters

imo if to get the most out of the head swap i would put in a different cam. whether it be flat tappet or roller. to go roller will be a bit more expensive, and might not be worth the $$

If you have a 360 Mag just check how its cam is. If its cam/lifters are good, use them with the oil pump eccentric adapter.

I don't have one. I've got the 86 318 cop motor and am putting magnum heads on it. I don't have a donor motor.

Ah, the cam you want is the 5.2 cam. Make sure your motor can get the dogbones first, you'll need those, lifters, and pushrods.

Well, I went and met 1980Volare today, and all he had to do was fire up his car and it had me sold on the cam he used. It sounded wicked good even though it was a bit brisk this morning.
So, keeping the motor flat tappet will be ok, regardless of it being a roller block, and having roller heads...right? Cause to be honest, id rather not pay the money to switch it over if i dont have to.
