Prospect62 (Part II) The AHB Files
« on: January 07, 2015, 21:40:37 »

Well, you all know how long I wanted an AHB. Had one in like 2003, sold it, regretted it. Bought a civilian Gran Fury in 2010...proceeded to sink my heart and soul into it trying to make it an AHB (or better) but I was not satisfied.

Unfortunately, in that ten year time period or so, AHB's (nice ones) became quite rare (as you all know). Fast forward to December 2014, the time was right to get rid of my Gran Fury and it sold fairly quickly on eBay for more than three times what I paid for it (in case anyone was curious where the market is going for these cars).

The plan was to unload the car because my wife and I are selling our house. I planned to put the money away and settle in for what promised to be a LONG search for a local AHB in solid shape. As luck would have it, member MoparBrett listed his 87 AHB in these fabled pages at about the same time I listed my car on Craigslist the first time. The timing worked out for once in my life and...we've arrived to today.

I am the proud owner of an actual 1987 Plymouth AHB. I could NOT be happier. As MoparBrett has said, it's from Washington State and it's solid. Needs paint and some little things, but Brett did a remarkable job with the interior and I won't have to really touch that. Plus, Brett did the Canadian Y-pipe mod already which is huge. Plans include fresh white paint before spring and a de-lean burn treatment, along with some very minor small touches here and there.

As always, you'll all have a front row seat.

Looks great, I'd say it was an Arkansas State Police car originally unless someone put those decals on after it was in service.

I was told it was a county mountie car from Washington State originally. I have no documentation to support that yet. I'm going to work on the back story.

Haha! Ice, you got it nailed. That's the car from both previous posts you listed. Interesting how I ended up getting the same car I posted about a year ago. Never would have thought it.

The UHAUL truck and trailer worked out great. I have a 7200 lb. GVW tow-package Suburban but it's not as young as it once was and I didn't want to push it so I sprang for the truck along with the trailer. Trip to Brett's was 221 miles round trip. All told it cost me $170.00 for the truck and trailer and I put about $60 worth of fuel in it.

Brett was a nice, knowledgeable guy who made everything go off without a hitch. And the car is what I've wanted all my life - just can't wait to get a fresh coat of paint on it.

Thanks for the kind words, fellas. Stay tuned.
