ok, I need some details.

the KB pistons, did you get the flat tops or the dished pistons? dished you'll be a little under 9:1 with those 360 heads.  if it were me, I woulda bucked up the other $200 and bought the hughes Iron Rams (enginequest 318B's) that they sell for $699/pr assembled, all new components with their #1110 springs.  they flow about 20-40 CFM better than smog 360 heads, and have 10cc smaller combustion chambers, which will net you about 3/4 of a point of compression.

so you're planning on keeping a stock converter and 2.40 gears?

that intake is really going to choke the motor as far as performance.

assuming the pistons are dished, and you want to keep the highway flyer gears, go conservative on the cam. one thing to remember with a roller cam, is they have a lot more aggressive lobes.  in my 318, I have my stocker reground by bullet cams, it's only 208@.050, but it is 127 degrees at .2" lift, which is only 3 degrees smaller than a comp XE262 (which is 218@.050).  that comp one isn't all that great, if you actually look at their lobe catalog, it's got relatively slow ramps.

if you're looking at an off the shelf roller, with those gears and the compression you're running, I'd look at these cams:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CCA-20-810-9/
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/LUN-60711/

or check out hughes engines, you could get either of these cams:
http://www.hughesengines.com/Index/products.php?browse=category&level0=U21hbGwgQmxvY2snTEEnIDI3MywzMTgsMzQwIGFuZCAzNjAgZW5naW5lcw==&level1=Q2Ftc2hhZnQ=&level2=Um9sbGVyLCBIeWRyYXVsaWM=&partid=11433
http://www.hughesengines.com/Index/products.php?browse=category&level0=U21hbGwgQmxvY2snTEEnIDI3MywzMTgsMzQwIGFuZCAzNjAgZW5naW5lcw==&level1=Q2Ftc2hhZnQ=&level2=Um9sbGVyLCBIeWRyYXVsaWM=&partid=11435

both are regrinds, you'd send them the old cam as a core.

conversely, you could send your cam to www.bulletcams.com and talk to Tim there, and see what they could fit on your cam core.  I'd try for the HR270/340 lobe or the HR260/340 lobe if it were me (http://bulletcams.com/Masters/HRlobes.htm)  if you're planning on running headers, a split pattern cam isn't as necessary, just have them grind the same lobe for intake and exhaust.

any of these cams, I'd use the hughes 1110 springs.

I'd strongly suggest bucking up the $250 or so and get an edelbrock RPM or air gap, or looking for a used RPM, air gap, LD340, or weiand stealth.

for converters, if you're going to buy a new one, I'd at the very least, switch to a factory high stall one that was used behind slant 6's & 3.9's in trucks & vans.  that should give you another 4-500 RPM of stall, and be essentially the same as a MP145K converter.

my rerung 318 with an eddie air gap, 600 eddie carb, magnum heads (home ported by me), and reground roller cam (bullet's HR259/316 lobe for both intake and exhaust) idles near stock (~16" vaccum in gear at about 700 RPM) and pulls as hard as my old 360 which was a stock long block, same intake, carb, & headers, and a comp XE262, but the 360 had about 4" less idle vaccuum with the idle 100 RPM higher.

I get what you mean about the Iron Rams. I have a little less in mine w/o pushrods. (about $100 less I think) I had good valvetrain and had it worked.

yup, that's why I suggested the smallish (duration wise) cams.

that whiplash is about the biggest I'd go with the vehicle weight/gears, but I hate the rumpity rump idle of narrow lobe centers and lots of overlap, as well as the fact they nose over lower in the RPM range, so I woulda picked a cam with a 110-113 LSA instead of the whiplash's 107.

u should check the bronze Intermediate Shaft Bushing for the distributer and oil pump  drive  gear, some machine shops dont replace them and the can be cracked.

I never used the glyptal red before. I usually just use Plastikote engine paint and always came out nice. I think when I do mine I'm going to keep it black, but, I would consider Street Hemi Orange.

How are you going to paint your engine? Are you going to assemble it then paint it or do the block seperate? I usually take some duct tape and cover any surface/hole I don't want paint in/on. Then, take a small ball peen hammer and use the rounded backside and lightly tap around the edges of where I used the duct tape. After I tapped completely around the specific area I'm working, I just pull the edges away and I have a perfect shape for the surface I want covered. Then, after I have all the tape shaped to the surfaces I want un-exposed, just paint it and let it dry. Afterwards, just pull the rest of the tape off and you have a perfect finish to still mate gaskets etc up against.
